The brand was founded by a pair of Seattle-based architects, Jon Junker and Seth Grizzle. Their motto was to be creative and create in harmony with the environment. Since 2012, local production and distribution has been handled by a studio in Amsterdam, which supplies Graypants to over 40 European countries.

From the very beginning, Graypants helps to create jobs for people who particularly need them. The production employs people with a difficult start in life, people with disabilities, national minorities. At the start, employees receive help and a second chance.
Each lamp is a separate story, what their creators repeatedly emphasize. Hand-made lamps made of cardboard or series made of brass are created with precision and heart. Their authors put a lot of effort into them, meticulously following a well thought-out plan, and they are proud of the effects and quality of their work put into making and assembling each of the elements, which is immortalized by their own signature on each piece.

Cardboard lamps can be safely used in restaurant, hotel or other business interiors. They are coated with a fire retardant, non-toxic preparation and have the required certificates.
Natural raw materials shaped into organic forms enchant with their originality and uniqueness. Luminaires refer to natural phenomena and nature such as the moon, clouds and stones.
The fascination with nature and constant research on materials lead to the creation of single luminaires as well as organic installations composed of several, a dozen or several dozen lamps.
